Living the Prayer of Jesus through Racial Sobriety
Matthew 9: 9-13
In the gospel, we find a defense for those like Matthew the evangelist who have been called by God. Many think that they cannot be called by God because they are not perfect. Jesus tells us salvation is for those who seek it, for it is the sinner who really desires the grace of change. It is the “sick” who needs the physician. And so too with us, we are not perfect in our racial relationship, we have our own dysfunctions that we are working through. Jesus comes into our lives to begin the healing when we place our hurts at the table of his altar. We are assured of his mercy in our failings. We can be surprised in our righteousness who God is working through today. But Jesus assures us that God can do anything but fail.
