Living the Prayer of Jesus through Racial Sobriety
Matthew 20:1-16a
“The last will be first and the first will be last,” does not follow the merit system that we profess as a culture. However, for those who are engaged in the work of the kingdom, it is an assurance that our efforts to bring about the kingdom in the 21 st century is every bit as valuable as any disciple of the past. No one has an advantage of time, labor or position. The master of the harvest is not asking for equal time, he is asking for equal effort. This in the end is the fairest reward for everyone’s effort. For our work in better relationships in the human family are not based on how long we have been in the movement but what we have done since we joined it. Equal effort to bring about the kingdom not equal time, position or power. What justice we find in the master of compassion!
