Living the Prayer of Jesus through Racial Sobriety

Matthew 17: 1-9

This is another mountaintop experience in which the higher consciousness that Jesus wants to share is limited to two of his closest disciples. Moses, who represents the Law of God, and Elijah, who represents the Spirit of God’s law, are conversing with Jesus. For those who are working to heal the hurts of the human family, we too have a long legacy of men and women who have gone before us. We share with them the gift of a capacity for higher consciousness that others might not have or lack the opportunity to act upon. But we need to understand like the disciples of Jesus, “Rise, and do not be afraid,” for this gift is awesome. Our capacity to entertain the thought of bringing about a change is a “favor” from God. And a call to return to the valley to be the light for those who sorely need our gift of leadership.
