Matthew 3:1-12
The great truths of Christian faith are touched upon in the question of John the Baptist about Jesus and in turn Jesus’ questions to the crowd. Jesus directs those sent by John, “Go and tell John what you hear and see.” In the truth telling of our racial relationships, could we as individuals, a congregation or organization suggest this same test of our racial relationships? Is ‘Go and tell Jesus what you hear and see’ a confirmation of our Christian identity or a condemnation of it?
Am I committed to creating a culture of racial sobriety? Am I a convicted and convinced witness to a racially reconciled Kingdom? Am I bringing others to Jesus by my daily encounters with racially different people so that what was written of John could be said of me: “Behold, I am sending my messenger ahead of you; he will prepare your way before you.” |
