Living the Prayer of Jesus through Racial Sobriety
Matthew 4:12-23 or 4:12-17
The call of discipleship is to transcend the present condition and live for a time that has not yet come, but is promised. Jesus’ message of the kingdom for the world and his disciples was to live in a world with two visions, one of the present and the other of the promised. Those who left their lifestyles to follow Jesus were following the promise of the kingdom as they could understand it. Jesus would take them step by step into a deeper understanding. All begin with the discipleship of learning the kingdom’s promises before they are able to teach as apostles of these promises.
