Living the Prayer of Jesus through Racial Sobriety

Matthew 28:16-20

As Jesus is leaving his disciples, he prays a prayer of departure. His assignment to them in time and space has come to an end. For each one of us, the greatest accomplishment is doing the work that God has given us. We cannot do everything, but we can do our part with every energy, gift and grace that God has bestowed upon us. Our little part in the great story of salvation is a hinge upon which all of history will swing. There is a freeing power in knowing that I am not responsible for everything in the world, only my discipleship assignment. There is a joy in knowing that I am accountable for my assignment from God, and this is “doable.”
