Living the Prayer of Jesus through Racial Sobriety

Matthew 2:1-12

The magi represent the universal desire of every group of people to seek after the ultimate meaning of life. It represents those who literally search the stars of the heavens, and ask the rulers on earth where salvation can be found. In the earnest search for the truth of life we are presented with the reality that our salvation will not always be found in our social setting, but wherever and through whomever God wishes to make His will clear. This month we will celebrate the birthday of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Many in our nation and the world rejoiced at his appearance and to hear of his dream. As wisemen and wisewomen of our times, who are we called to journey toward, who has the mantle of peace set on their shoulder? Wise ones will seek their star at its appearance and bring their gifts for our contemporary Epiphany.
