Living the Prayer of Jesus through Racial Sobriety
Year B Gospel Commentary

22nd Sunday in Ordinary Time
Mark 7:1-8, 14-15, 21-28
What a challenge Jesus gives to us who seek his will. He offers us eternal life when we eat this body. Is there anyone offering this in the world? No. It is the gift of faith that makes this offer real to us. When we work to bring the human family into the full knowledge of who Jesus is and who we are called to be to one another, the evangelization of the new Pentecost will begin. Our ?going along to get along? diminishes the Bread of Life within us. When we engage our call to fulfill the Prayer of Jesus (John 17:11, 21, then the mission of God in the world increase and the Bread of Life becomes the fuel that powers the transformation of the world.
