| Jesus shares his experience of being affirmed in his ministry by God, his Father and our Father. Part of our human condition is our need to be affirmed. Jesus being fully human had that need to have his ABC emotional vitamins. Vitamin A is for acceptance, vitamin B is belonging and vitamin C is counting. Int he Transfiguration Jesus experiences another soulful transfusion of divine affirmation as he experiences the magnificence of being loved unconditionally. "This is my beloved Son," is the epitome of acceptance by a parent, belonging to someone and counting as valuable in their eyes. The most powerful embrace we can give is that of affirmation. How true it is that people don't remember what we say or what we do, but they remember how we make them feel. As we make the journey toward racial sobriety do we fill people with the ABC vitamins they need? When we do they feel like "our beloved brother or sister," and it s a divine feeling to experience that embrace. |
